SAFETY DAY : SATURDAY JANUARY 10th 2026

A full day of mountain and avalanche safety training, accessible à tous, avec plusieurs niveaux adaptés aux novices comme aux plus aguerris. Vous apprendrez à utiliser un DVA, les techniques de sondage et de pelletage, les premiers secours, ainsi que des bases en nivologie et de l’alpinisme (Niveau 1 – novice). Des scénarios immersifs et techniques seront proposés (niveau 2 – intermédiaire), tandis que les plus expérimentés partiront analyser le terrain avec nos guides pour gérer des situations réelles (niveau 3 – expert).

New ! New this year: In addition to the usual levels (novice, intermediate, and expert), we’re introducing two advanced levels (Level 4 - pro) based on training for professional riders: “Advanced Rescue & Self-Rescue in Avalanche Conditions” et "Rope Handling and Avalanche Rescue in Remote Terrain”

Please note : the day starts at 8:30. Please note the training will be mostly IN FRENCH, especially the conference.

The registration to the Safety Day includes:
  • Practical and theoretical training
  • 1 day ski pass (excluding insurance)
  • Welcome breakfast & lunch
Material :
  • Skis or snowboard
  • Équipement de sécurité en montagne (DVA, pelle, sonde, sac à dos). Loan available on-site, subject to availability
  • Warm clothing
  • Proper insurance coverage for your skiing or snowboarding (both on- and off-piste)
Levels :

Level 1: Beginner : You never took part in a training session or your last one is from more than 5 years ago, and you'd like to go over the basics again in order to acquire a good base prior to leaving the slopes.

Training content : Handling of the beacon / research with beacon / Probing / Shovelling / Victim's first aid / Scenarios with multiple victims / Nivology / Recco system

Level 2: Intermediate: You already did the Safety Shred Days beginner training or your last time training was less than 5 years ago, and you'd like to add to your knowledge & skill in avalanche Safety trainings.

Training content : Complex avalanche scenarios (real conditions, multi victims, analysis of situations ... )

Level 3: Advanced: You have already taken part in the Safety Shred Days intermediate tranings, and you'd like to sharpen your on-snow skills thanks to a training focused on the analysis & decision-making while freeriding.

Training content : BERA analysis / Observation of the terrain & nivology / Choice of your line based on your groupe / Communication / Behaviour on the descent

Out of bounds riding, discussion & learn again how to manage the risks.

Level 4: Pro - Advanced Avalanche Rescue and Autonomous Safety

For Advanced training graduates seeking full autonomy in managing mountain emergency situations, benefiting from the same content and guidance as pro riders. 

Training content : Complex avalanche scenarios, alert protocols, medical assessment, traumatic injury response, care for unconscious victims and cardiac arrest, treatment for mild to moderate hypothermia.

Level 4: Pro - Rope Techniques & Avalanche Rescue in Remote Terrain: Designed for Advanced training graduates interested in learning advanced rope-handling techniques for rescue scenarios, with training on the same content and guidance provided to pro riders. 

Training Content: Complex avalanche scenarios with rope handling, securing techniques, remote area rescue techniques, and psychological preparedness in freeride environments.

 

Price : 70 euros

 

RIDING DAY : DIMANCHE JAN 11th 2026

A half-day with a mountain guide —a unique chance to deepen your skills in off-piste skiing, ski touring, or splitboarding while practicing risk management in a structured environment. Enjoy this experience to explorer le domaine freeride/backcountry de Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise, or try a new discipline - safely, with professional guidance, and at an affordable price.  

Departures available at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm, with limited spots per workshop.

Registration to the Riding Day includes :
  • A half-day with a certified mountain guide, with workshops of your choice
  • 1 day ski pass (excluding insurance)
  • Light breakfast and lunch
EQUIPMENT TO BRING:
  • Skis or snowboard (touring or splitboard skis, depending on the activity)
  • Mountain safety gear (avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe, and backpack). Loan available on-site, subject to availability
  • Warm clothing
  • Proper insurance coverage for your skiing or snowboarding (both on- and off-piste)
Workshop Options* :
  • Freeride – Discovery: : Explorez les meilleurs spots de freeride de Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise en toute sécurité et en compagnie d’un guide certifié !Level: beginner/intermediate freeriders, able to ride comfortably on a red slope minimum.
  • Freeride – Confirmed : Explore the best freeride spots in St Foy in Tarentaise! Level: : Experienced riders, several off-piste outings already completed, capable of comfortably skiing a black run at minimum. 
  • Ski Touring / Splitboard – Discovery Get introduced to the basics of splitboarding or ski touring. Learn how to handle the equipment (skin setup, kick turns) and make your own tracks. Level: beginners in ski touring/splitboard, able to ride comfortably on a red slope minimum. 
  • Splitboard/Ski Touring - Advanced For experienced participants, this session takes you off the beaten path to explore wilder areas that require some hiking. Enjoy less-traveled routes and refine your uphill and downhill techniques while applying advanced risk management skills in challenging conditions. Level: several ski touring/splitboard outings already completed, able to ride comfortably on a black slope minimum.

SAFETY SHRED DAYS WEEKEND : SAT 10 & SUN 11TH JAN 2026

Experience a full weekend of training and riding in the laid-back freeride atmosphere of Safety Shred Days! Practical and theoretical workshops, riding, evening events, movie night, and much more – the recipe for a weekend that's both smart and fun among enthusiasts!

We welcome you starting Friday for a free welcome evening with screenings, open to everyone!

The training day on Saturday features the same activities for all, varying only by skill level, but this year we are introducing new training levels. In addition to the traditional levels (novice, intermediate, and expert),we are adding two advanced levels (Level 4 - pro) based on training for professional riders: “Avalanche First Aid & Complex Rescue, in Autonomy” and “Rope Management & Avalanche Rescue in Isolated Terrain.”. Choose the one that best suits your needs! (Details of the levels below) 

On Sunday: a half-day with a certified mountain guide! It’s a unique opportunity to enhance your skills in off-piste skiing and/or ski touring/splitboarding, putting risk management into practice in a supervised environment. Enjoy this experience to explorer le domaine freeride/backcountry de Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise improve your technique or try a new discipline - safely, with professional guidance, and at an affordable price.  

Note: The day starts at 08:30 AM on Saturday, with a movie night on Friday evening. Please note the training on Saturday will be mostly IN FRENCH, especially the conference.

KIDS DAY : WEDNESDAY 7TH JAN 2026

A day of practical and theoretical training specially tailored for young freeriders aged 8 to 16, culminating in a riding session and an opportunity to interact with the present pro riders

The questions addressed will be: how to locate avalanche victims and extract them from the snow? What are the first aid measures to administer, and how should they be carried out? How to analyze the snow? 

Registration to the Kids Day includes :
  • Practical and theoretical training
  • Welcome breakfast
  • 1 day ski pass (excluding insurance)
